Fri Sept 27

• 3pm: Event officially begins (feel free to come earlier for good setup spots!)
• 6pm-7:45pm: Rides and dinner in town (variety of restaurants available)
• 8pm: AIRSTRIPS BRIEFING (mandatory for morning fly-outs to local strips)
• 8:30pm: Group campsite bonfire, smores, and tall tales...

Sat Sept 28

• Morning: Fly-outs to local backcountry strips
• 5:30pm: Campground catered tri-tip BBQ ($17/person)
• 7:30pm: Outdoor movie and group campsite bonfire, smores, and tall tales...

Sun Sept 29

• Morning: Fly-outs to local backcountry strips
• 3pm: Event officially ends (feel free to stay longer if you'd like!)

WHAT TO DO

• Explore Kern River adjacent to airport campground
  • Innertube/raft/kayak from town down to airport campground
  • Fishing: the river is a 5 minute walk from the campground but for people 16yrs+, a fishing license must be purchased (in town) to fish 
• Campground bonfires
• Horseshoes at cafe
• Explore town just a small bike ride or nice walk (less than 3 miles) (courtesy bicycles available at airport - see manager)
• ​Fly your plane out to check out the gorgeous Sierra Nevadas

CAMPING

We have great camping on the airport, over an acre of grass, bonfire pits, hot water shower facilities, picnic tables, water spigots, and you are welcome to park your airplane on the grass border or on the adjacent paved parking area. Event camping is $15/night/plane or vehicle.

FOOD

• Breakfast and lunch is available at the airport café.  Otherwise, bring your own food to cook :)
• Dinner Friday night (Sept 27th) is a shuttle ride into town for dinner at any of the Kernville Restaurants
• Dinner Sat, Sept 28th is our famous Tri-Tip BBQ cart catered by our local Sierra Vista Restaurant.  $17/person Guaranteed to please!

Kern Valley Airport
 Fly-In/Campout

The Kern Valley Airport and friends welcome you to the Kern Valley Airport 2023 Annual Fly-in/Campout located on the Kern River and Lake Isabella in the beautiful southern Sierra Nevada mountains of Southern California. Bring your planes and your friends & families as we have river and camping activities for all ages.  

Breakfast and lunch is available at the airport café or bring your own. Dinner Friday night is at the Kern River Brewing Company (a small bike ride, shuttle ride, or nice walk into town), and a catered Tri-Tip BBQ with all the fixin's will be held at the airport campground Saturday night as well as cornhole and ping pong.
Plenty of airplane camping is available at our airport campground with campfire pits, free firewood, and basic hot shower/toilets. Reservations aren't necessary but please pay for your airplane campsite use ($15/night) at our link below, the rate is reduced from our normal $20/night rate for this weekend only.
